However, as a coach, you only achieve results when you point out the internal barriers that lie behind the visible obstacles and help the team to overcome them.

To be able to facilitate this, you need to have a container of psychological safety in place. You also need to be in a resourceful state as a coach.

Results: By doing this, you provoke the conflict within the team, which is concealed by this obstacle. The only way to get to the other side of the conflict leads through a transformation. Help the team to make a breakthrough. As an agile coach, I have already conducted reconciliation workshops after such conflicts, leading to significant breakthroughs.

A key focus of the FeminineAgility model is psychological safety in a team and personal. The SCARF model explains the building blocks of psychological safety in groups, especially during the transformation into new territory.

In the modern working world, psychological safety is increasingly becoming a key factor for successful teams and organizations. The SCARF model, developed by David Rock, offers an innovative framework for understanding and addressing the social needs of individuals in the workplace. It is particularly interesting how this model can support the promotion of an inclusive and supportive environment for female professionals. The five dimensions of the SCARF model – Status, Certainty, Autonomy, Relatedness, and Fairness – provide valuable insights into how to create a culture of psychological safety that particularly considers and strengthens the feminine perspective.

Status

Status refers to the relative positioning within a group. In work environments where women have historically been underrepresented or in lower positions, awareness of status differences can help to intentionally create support networks and mentoring programs for women. By recognizing and promoting the contributions of female employees, feelings of appreciation and respect can be strengthened, which in turn promotes psychological safety.

Certainty

Certainty regarding expected outcomes and clarity of expectations is important for all employees, but especially for women in traditionally male-dominated fields. Transparent communication, clear career paths, and certainty about evaluation criteria can help reduce uncertainties and create an environment where women feel encouraged to express their ideas and take risks.

Autonomy

Autonomy refers to the need for control over one’s work and decision-making. Promoting women’s autonomy through flexible working models, participation in decision-making processes, and the opportunity to lead their own projects can boost confidence and increase loyalty to the company. Autonomy allows women to leverage their strengths and make individual contributions.

Relatedness

Relatedness concerns the sense of belonging and positive relationships with colleagues. A supportive network that promotes diversity and inclusion is crucial for empowering women in the workplace. Creating women’s networks, conducting team-building activities, and fostering a climate of openness and acceptance help women feel supported and valued.

Fairness

Fairness is fundamental to psychological safety and refers to the equitable treatment of all employees. For women, this means ensuring equal opportunities, combating gender discrimination, and the fair distribution of resources and recognition. Organizations that actively take steps against biases and ensure equality build trust and promote a positive work environment.

Work environments can feel safer

The SCARF model offers a comprehensive approach to designing work environments that not only promote psychological safety but also actively contribute to the support and empowerment of women. By considering the five dimensions of the SCARF model, organizations can create a culture of inclusivity, respect, and equal opportunity that is beneficial for all employees. In such an environment, women can reach their full potential, leading to increased innovation, productivity, and thus adding value.

Feedback Enabled

Agile practices thrive on feedback. If feedback is heard and experienced as criticism, it will quickly dry up. Psychological safety is the prerequisite for constructive feedback.

Personal Growth Enabled

For personal learning to occur, it is necessary to take risks. This requires a framework of psychological safety.

This innovative approach enhances adaptability and fosters innovation within teams and organizations.

By emphasizing collaborative efforts and recognizing the unique contributions of each member, FeminineAgility cultivates deeper connections and a profound understanding across diverse groups. Its comprehensive strategy not only challenges traditional hierarchical structures but also promotes inclusivity, enabling teams to tackle complex issues with more effective and creative solutions.

At the core of FeminineAgility is the fusion of Feminine Power, a concept pioneered by Claire Zammit, with the principles of agile management, notably Scrum, introduced by Ken Schwaber and Jeff Sutherland. Agile management revolutionizes collaboration by focusing on strong interpersonal relationships and the collective pursuit of a shared vision. Originating in software development, this approach is now gaining momentum across various sectors, demonstrating the power of unity and iterative progress in achieving common goals.

FeminineAgility represents a transformative path that leverages the synergies of feminine insights and agile practices to elevate organizational effectiveness and human connection.

Why do you describe Agile management as inherently feminine and how do these feminine traits contribute to the effectiveness of agile methodologies?

Agile Management is described as inherently feminine due to its emphasis on cooperation, community, empathy, flexibility, and responsiveness – characteristics that most people associated with feminine qualities. This principle highlights the importance of diversity in leadership positions, especially in the software industry where innovation and effectiveness are of utmost importance. The presence of women in leadership roles is particularly impactful for this reason:

Improved Collaboration and Communication: The leadership styles of women often embody feminine principles such as collaboration, empathy, and effective communication, which can transform the organizational structure into one that fosters open and productive idea exchange. This is then reflected in digital systems that are more user-friendly, accessible, and better connected through interfaces.

Inclusive Organizational Culture: Including women in leadership positions promotes a culture of equality and inclusivity. This cultural shift can lead to fairer communication structures within the organization, which, according to Conway’s Law, are reflected in the design of systems that are more inclusive and consider accessibility and usability for diverse user groups.

The software industry is at the heart of digitalization and reflects the impact of masculine dominance, for example, in the fragility of systems of airlines, the energy sector, and internet connections. Connect Drive, Smart Grids, and Internet Connectivity hint at the quality of connection and connectivity.

In what ways can feminine agility support the cultivation of intuition and inner guidance, core aspects of the teachings of Claire Zammit’s Feminine Power?

Feminine agility can significantly support the cultivation of intuition and inner guidance, core aspects of Claire Zammit’s Feminine Power teachings, in several key ways:

Creating Space for Reflection: Feminine agility creates spaces of psychological safety, where feedback can be given in a way that is not heard as criticism, but as positive. This enables individuals to listen to their inner voice, unlock deeper knowledge, and express it.

Valuing Emotional Intelligence: By emphasizing the importance of emotional intelligence, feminine agility supports individuals in recognizing and interpreting their feelings and emotions as valuable sources of insight.

Promoting Self-Confidence: Feminine agility creates space for self-confidence and encourages individuals to believe in their abilities and the validity of their inner knowledge. This confidence is crucial for following one’s intuition and expressing it.

Encouraging Holistic Decision-Making: Feminine agility advocates for decision-making processes that integrate rational analysis with intuitive insights. This holistic approach acknowledges the complexity of personal challenges and integrates all perspectives into solutions supported by the group.

Learning from Mistakes and Setbacks: Feminine agility views mistakes and setbacks as opportunities for learning and personal growth, rather than failures.

Facilitating Deep Listening and Empathy: Through the practice of deep listening and empathy towards oneself and others, individuals learn to distinguish between superficial desires and deeper, more authentic needs and aspirations. This ability is crucial for collectively making decisions that align with the true self of the individual.

How can feminine agility support more effective and empathetic communication in organizations, both internally and with external stakeholders?

Feminine agility supports more effective and empathetic communication by emphasizing active listening, openness, and the acknowledgment of diverse perspectives. Internally, it fosters a culture where feedback is valued as a tool for growth and encourages team members to express their thoughts and feelings in a safe space. This approach nurtures trust and strengthens relationships within teams, leading to increased collaboration and innovation.

Externally, feminine agility encourages organizations to interact with stakeholders in more meaningful ways. By prioritizing empathy and genuine connection, organizations can better understand the needs and concerns of their customers, clients, and partners.

Furthermore, feminine agility advocates for inclusivity and diversity in message crafting to ensure that communication reflects the voices of all stakeholders and respects cultural sensitivities. By combining emotional intelligence with strategic communication, it enables teams in organizations to adopt a holistic perspective.

The Feminine and Technology

The feminine uses technology to achieve more. The latest tools are the means to an end rather than an end in themselves. They are there to master complexity.

The Digital Age

With the lockdown for COVID-19, the last inhabitant of the civilized world has also arrived in the digital age. The classroom also went digital. I have seen children at an early age using their smartphones as babysitters in every corner of the African bush.

Even though computers, power cables, and routers are material goods and products, the infrastructure, the information that is processed on computers, and the generated data and algorithms that are transported as bits and bytes across the system is what defines the digital age.

Technology as a Tool

In the industrial age, the rapid reproduction of material goods, such as steam engines, tractors for agriculture, and trucks for transporting goods, led us to an easier life. Women can also drive trucks and excavators. This makes a truck a tool to provide us with a better quality of life. It transports a letter much faster than a stagecoach or a courier on horseback.

Digital products and services are non-material tools to improve our quality of life. The message that traveled for days on horseback only takes a fraction of a second to be sent via email. Digital products are tools, like the stone wedge once was for the Neanderthal, to fulfill our destiny. If we focus on our dreams and heart’s desires as a contribution to life, then any technically better tool we can use is fine with us. Wow, that makes the fear of technology go away. Technology is not an end in itself, but a means to an end. Purpose. What matters is our meaning and purpose in life, our destiny.

Mastering Technology

Once you understand this, technology is no longer a threat. Life flows and with it the technology of our civilization develops from the hand ax to the self-driving automobile.

Suddenly everyone can attend meetings and study online, not too early and not too late. I call this “surfing the technology wave.” As a surfer on the ocean you know that the next wave is definitely coming. If you get on the board too late, the wave is over. If too early, the energy is wasted. Just right, jumping on the crest of the wave, that’s the art of surfing. It’s the same with technology.

Here’s how you can use feminine principles to master the complexities of our time:

Formulate a vision that excites you and implement it with a product or service.

Offer a benefit to your customer that is independent of technology.

Always use only the minimum amount of technology you need.

Subordinate the technology to the product goals.

Conclusion

Technology is a powerful tool, but it is important to use it wisely. By focusing on our dreams and heart’s desires, we can use technology to create a better world for ourselves and others.

Strengthening self-confidence is seen as the most important issue by women, especially in a male-dominated business environment.

Creativity, imagination, empathy and the nurturing and nurturing of human relationships are considered feminine qualities. Raising this feminine potential is the personal path to success in the digital age. As the external barriers for women have fallen, the internal ones can now be addressed.

Raising your feminine potential is your personal path to success in the digital age. In the industrial age, it was important to embrace the masculine in business. We women have become accustomed to the essence of femininity in a professional context.

The external barriers for women have fallen. Now it’s internal ones that can be addressed. It is important to overcome old beliefs in order to increase your own potential. Instead of being pushed to the sidelines and silenced, it is important to be seen and heard.

How can we develop self-confidence when we know little and a lot is new.

Our feminine potential is the asset for the digital age. Confidence is about gaining clarity about how to move forward in a way that we can take advantage of it. If we cannot control the framework conditions because uncertainty, change and complexity dominate, then we need strategies and skills to take the next step in an anti-fragile and resilient manner.

Studies show that women need to be 100% confident that they can do this job successfully before they accept a job. Men only need 60% security. This creates major challenges in agile leadership scenarios. It is also called the “Imposter Syndrome”.

A saying I hear in agile teams, mostly Scrum teams and startup companies, is “Fail early, fail fast”. That’s easy to say, but difficult to implement. Guilt and shame are the feelings that affect us when we fail.

Agility helps us to become better. Agile management was first cultivated in software development and is spreading to all areas of business. In this workshop you can work hands-on on your next personal or professional vision for which you would like to have more self-confidence. It can be a grand vision that has you reaching for the stars, or what is currently challenging you.
